The Science of Heritage Grade Teak

Our wood is carefully checked for the high natural oil and silica content only found in the dense core of mature trees, providing a natural 25 year plus lifespan that requires zero chemical intervention and matures into a beautiful, silvery grey patina.
While many bench retailers offer teak at a lower price point this is often achieved by using soley, or a mixture of, "sapwood" the soft outer living layer of the tree that lacks natural resistance to decay. For 25 years we have educated our customers on the critical distinction between generic "Grade A" labels and what we class as true Heritage Grade heartwood. In these inferior products, the pale porous sapwood is frequently chemically treated or stained to mimic the rich golden hue of high quality timber. However once exposed to the British elements these artificial treatments fail leading to rapid rotting and structural collapse.
